This Woman Wants to Change How All of Us Sees Our Bodies

Some lovely person posted an excellent article written in the Huffington Post entitled, "This Woman Wants to Chang How All of Us Sees Our Bodies." The article made me sit back and think about my own body image. It's not a good image, but I'm working on it. What I found most profound about the article was what, Taryn Brumfitt, The woman in the video said about her own weight loss and how she felt. After losing weight and having the perfect body Taryn didn't feel any different. She still had the same negative self image. So Taryn decided to stop trying to be perfect and embraced her natural curves. She found a way to love herself just as she was.

If you can, please take a few minutes to read this article and watch the short video that accompanies it. I think you'll enjoy it.

  1. Made me cry what a lovely LOVELY way to do 'before and after' pics. I had always thought that this type of thing needed to be done. The sickening realization in this whole crappy 'fat/thin, beautiful/ugly doctrine' is that an historical sales-pitch has been used by snake-oil peddlers and applied to the very core of scientific knowledge about the way human beings are naturally attracted to each other, twisted and fine tuned for 'the sale' for the 'cha ching!' We never knew we were being led to the slaughter of our own souls, as we were driving ourselves to the brink of death trying to meet the ephemeral non existing forever changing image of beauty....Love you, Alyce.

  2. Love to you, my friend! I too thought is was a beautiful and thoughtful way of doing before and after pics. I love her honesty and her cause. The only sad part was when I responded to her questions, "Describe yourself in one word." I came up with leprous. I don't know how to fight this and I don't have the energy to try today. Got too many other things to deal with. I will say this, I've had more days feeling good than bad lately, so I think I am on a good path.

  3. The removal of any 'cancer' requires a digging deep to get to the root of the ailment..it is always painful, and the pain is most intense before the healing has begun to take effect. Seems to me, you are healing right on target as it should be. I think you can be proud of yourself.

  4. Thank you for saying that! There are times I do feel proud and there are times I feel bewildered...There are times when I feel afraid and there are times when I feel brave. I'll take it all. It feels good to feel something other than anger, pain and fear. Yes, I do feel healing taking place and I am excited to see where it takes me. How are you today, my friend?

  5. Dealing with a flood type problem again that weve been fighting for 14 years. Feels overwhelming, frustrating and impossible to deal with without getting ripped off. We've spent over $10,000. already, thought it was solved, back to square one..feeling defeated. So goes life though, it's always a battle on some front. Getting tired. Been praying hard for help and guidance...Love you, Alyce.

  6. I totally get what you are saying. I too suffer from flooding issues with one of my buildings. Just the other day a storm passed through...a pretty bad storm and one of my buildings flooded. This same building flooded 3 times last year during the worst of our storm season. It's located in a flood zone and there's nothing much we can do about it. If I had the money I could raise the structure up about 4-5 inches and that would solve our problem as it sits pretty low and is left susceptible to the flooding.

Don't give up, my friend. Continue seeking His purpose and His instruction. I do. We are learning to deal with the flooding as it comes and continuing to stay prayerful. That's we can do for now.

I am thankful the flood did not trigger another binge. Hugs to you my sweet friend.

  7. Oh my! It is good to be so understood on so many levels! Thank you for sharing your flood report...I am not happy that you too have to endure this, but knowing someone personally who has dealt with the same exact issues, what a difference a little understanding can make! Today, the expert drilled two holes into the concrete, and will be back in 72 hours to take a moisture reading..he thinks it was condensation due to the concrete being saturated, in the past and only topically dried out before flooring was installed..and that if we just leave it bare and air it out long enough, it can be usable as is with no extreme expense. I sure hope so...I will keep praying..Thank you...Love Alyce.

  8. Yes, there's relief is knowing that you are not alone and someone out there understands. I am glad that there is hope for your situation. I definitely want it to be the more cost effective options for you. Please let me know what the outcome is.

Hugs to you my friend...much love.
